👋 Welcome! Thanks for stopping by.
If you've made it this far, it means you give a damn about teachers — and that's awesome. Pay Teachers More Money (PTMM) exists to call out just how backwards the teacher pay system in the U.S. really is.
-
Why It Matters
🔹 Teachers Earn Significantly Less • Public school teachers earn about 26.4% less than other college-educated workers with similar experience (Economic Policy Institute, 2023).
🔹 Many Work Second Jobs • About 1 in 6 teachers work second jobs during the school year just to make ends meet.
🔹 Some Qualify for Public Assistance • In states like Mississippi and Arizona, teacher pay is so low that full-time educators may qualify for food stamps and Medicaid.
